Irish born, Alena has studied and been involved in music all her life and is passionate about music education especially for children. Alena is Director of Music at Kings College Doha, a qualified piano teacher and also studied Irish harp. Alena has completed many choral conducting courses and is currently preparing to take two diplomas : singing and music direction with the ABRSM.
Trained opera singer Nohemi Jaime is an experienced vocal coach from Mexico. Nohemi is an opera soloist and has performed many challenging operatic roles
Experienced in Music Education, I specialise in teaching Western Music and composition. I have a Master’s degree in Music Composition from Cardiff University, and studied violin with Antony Tarlton whilst completing my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. I was Head of Secondary Music at Doha College during 2011-2017, and from September 2018 I will be leading music education at the Swiss International School of Qatar. I contribute to the community music scene in any country that I reside, I have played with the Doha Community Orchestra and now look forward to working with the Qatar Youth Choir, under the direction of Alena Pyne.
Maralyn has been working with the choir from the very beginning. She comes from Sri Lanka and has two sons in the choir. The choir could not function without Maralyn who takes care of all things administrative.
Jennifer hails from Canada, where she studied voice for seven years through the Canadian Royal Conservatory of Music. She has many years of experience as both a choral and solo singer, including festivals and competitions, and she is delighted to be joining the team supporting the Qatar Youth and Junior Choirs.
