Honorary Patron

Patron for Arabic Song

We are thrilled to announce our new Patron for Arabic Song. We have been so fortunate to spend time doing amazing workshops with Maestro Barkev Taslakian of Fayha Choir Lebanon, together with his assistant Roula Abou Baker. We are thrilled to announce that this incredibly inspiring teacher has agreed to be our Patron for Arabic Song. We cannot wait until his return in March 2020.

Maestro Barkev Taslakian pioneered a new concept of Arabic choral singing using polyphonic arrangements, heretofore not available. He is devoting his life to spreading this new school of Arabic music around the Arab region and the world.  In addition to leading Fayha Choir in concerts all over the world, he also leads a choral programme for refugee children in Lebanon in cooperation with local and international organisations.  He has won many awards for Best Conductor, Best Choir, the “IMC Music Rights 2015” award and others.  He is invited to speak at many international music conferences and workshops.

International Opera Star

In 2016, International soprano Ms Felicitas Wittekindt-Fuchs became our 1st Honorary Patron of our choirs.  Feli is a wonderful, inspiring and encouraging addition to our team, guiding us with special vocal technique secrets and offers the choirs great insights in preparation for performances and stage craft skills.

“All young artists need a mentor, someone who shares their passion and can inspire them.  I am very happy to work with Qatar Youth and Junior Choir and their conductor Alena Pyne.  They have ambitious plans and the kids clearly want to sing. I think together we can really create some magical performances of a broad mix of choral repertoire and have lots of fun doing so”, says Fuchs.
